The Cortes Island Fire-Fighting Association is a non profit Society that provides fire suppression services as Cortes Island Fire Rescue under contract with the Strathcona Regional District. We also have a contract with the Klahoose First Nation to provide the same services.
We perform firefighting, auto extrication, and fire prevention services as part of our core responsibilities. We work closely with other agencies including: B.C. Ambulance, RCMP, Emergency Social Services, B.C. Forest Service, Canadian Coast Guard, Search and Rescue, and Canadian Armed Forces. Because we are the largest Public Safety organization on the island, we play a key role in providing life safety, property conservation and environmental conservation services.
